OREANDA-NEWS   Senior representatives of the United States and Iran may hold a meeting on February 6 in Turkey amid efforts to resume nuclear negotiations and a regional settlement. This is reported by CNN, citing three sources.

According to the newspaper, the special representative of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff, and the son-in-law of the American leader Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, may meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Istanbul on Friday. Diplomats from Egypt, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are also expected to attend.

At the same time, sources indicated that circumstances may arise in which the meeting may be postponed or canceled. Last year, the dialogue was disrupted after Israeli and US military strikes on facilities in Iran.

Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister called the restoration of trust a condition for negotiations with the Trump administration. According to the minister, trust in the United States has been lost at present, but there are attempts to restore it. Therefore, Araghchi allowed the possibility of new negotiations in the future. He also added that Iran and the United States are in contact through intermediaries.
