OREANDA-NEWS Russia and China, under the influence of Western sanctions, may consider more ways to restore and develop the economy, Feng Shaolei, director of the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University, told RIA Novosti.

"I think it will take some time to solve the problem of mutual settlements between Chinese and Russian companies. Naturally, this problem is mainly caused by sanctions, and I believe that you can always get something good out of the bad," Feng Shaolei said when asked to comment on the impact of Western sanctions on trade relations between Russia and China.

"Can we find a new way to settle accounts between our two countries? I believe that responsible government agencies and entrepreneurs are quite smart and will definitely find a way to solve this problem. I think that the emergence of a new, stable and reliable method of trade exchanges will only contribute to an increase in trade between China and Russia," he stressed in a conversation with the agency on the sidelines of the Russian-Chinese conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club and the Center for Russian Studies at the East China Pedagogical University.
