OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has proposed to President Vladimir Putin to consider the possibility of legalizing online casinos in Russia - it is planned that such activities will be taxed at 30%, which could bring about 100 billion rubles a year to the budget, Kommersant writes, citing sources.

Currently, online casinos are prohibited in Russia, and only the relevant organizers in bookmakers or sweepstakes can legally organize and conduct online gambling. The Ministry of Finance estimates the volume of the "white" market in 2024 at 1.7 trillion rubles, and the illegal market at 3 trillion rubles annually with about one hundred operating online casinos.

The activity of online casinos is proposed to be legalized in the country under a number of conditions. These include the definition of the organization's operator by presidential decree at the suggestion of the Government of the Russian Federation, and the establishment of a betting mechanism for online casinos through a Single betting Transfer Accounting Center, similar to bookmakers.
