OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2008. The international exhibition and conference Basic Trends in the Development of Turkmenistan’s Power Industry will be opened in Ashgabat on August 21. The three-day forum is organized by the Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan.

Power industry is one of leading sectors of Turkmen economy and its development is of paramount importance. The large-scale reforms initiated by the Turkmen leader throughout the country and aimed at developing rural areas, establishing modern industrial infrastructure, etc are closely interrelated with an increase in power consumption that demands active enhancement of the potential of the sector to bring it up to a higher level. To achieve these goals special attention is paid to introduction of the advanced technologies and best international practice and in this context wide co-operation with foreign partners.

The achievements of Turkmenistan’s power industry and the opportunities of expanding effective co-operation will be presented at the Exhibition Centre. The exposition will have several sections: electric and heat energy, design, construction and operation of power stations, energy-saving technologies, illuminating equipment and others. The scientific conference will be an opportunity to present latest innovations and long-range projects, exchange information and experience. The use of the alternative, so-called renewable energy sources such as the solar and wind energy will be a focus of the forum.

The power industry exhibition and conference will bring together a great number of foreign guests in Ashgabat. About 50 large foreign companies including Sumy machinery plant (Ukraine), Tehnopromeksport (Russia), WEST FSE (Dubai, UAE), COMPAX INTERNATIONAL (Israel) have applied for participation in the forum. Thus, the forthcoming meeting in the Turkmen land will be another step towards enhancing and expanding fruitful co-operation that is a priority of the national development strategy.
