OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2008. The President learned about the work of the regional air traffic control centre, which manages the movement of Russian and foreign aircraft in the airspace of Magadan Region, Chukotka Autonomous District and the eastern part of the Arctic Ocean.

The regional centre handles around 450 flights a day and is currently the only consolidated air traffic control centre in Russia. There are plans to build similar centres in Khabarovsk, Irkutsk and Kaliningrad.
