OREANDA-NEWS  Russians will not have to pay for transactions with the digital ruble, Alla Bakina, director of the Central Bank's national payment system department, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"There will be no fees for citizens, all operations are free," she stressed.

At the same time, the business fee will be minimal in comparison with bank tariffs for similar actions, Bakina explained.

A representative of the Central Bank said that starting from September 1, Russians will be able to open a digital ruble wallet through the application of systemically important banks. A button with the corresponding logo will appear on the main page. Access should also be provided by credit institutions that are recognized as significant in the payment services market.

The digital ruble is a new form of national currency in addition to the existing cash and non—cash forms. It does not cancel or replace them.

Starting in September, retail chains with annual revenue of more than 120 million rubles will begin accepting payments in this format, and smaller sellers will gradually be required to do so. To make a purchase, you will need to read a special QR code through the bank's application, select a digital ruble as the means of payment and confirm it.
