OREANDA-NEWS  The Bank of Russia on Friday will cut its key rate by 0.5 percentage points to 14.5% per annum, most analysts polled by RIA Novosti predict.

The regulator has been consistently but cautiously easing monetary policy since last year. If at the beginning of 2025 the key rate was 21%, then at the end of the year it was 16%. In March, the Bank of Russia lowered its key rate for the seventh time in a row to 15%, repeating the February step of 0.5 percentage points.

The majority of analysts polled by RIA Novosti expect a 0.5 percentage point reduction in the key rate. Among the arguments in favor of such a decision, they cite a slowdown in economic activity, a decrease in inflation expectations on the part of the population and businesses, and a slowdown in inflation.
