OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank has begun using new SmartCar cash-in-transit vehicles, which are equipped with lockers for transporting bank valuables in special containers. If attempts are made to seize the valuables contained in the special vehicle, banknotes are sprayed with dye that renders them unusable. SmartCar’s key advantage is that it enhances the security of cash transportation.

All cash transit routes are coordinated via the bank’s Monitoring Centre. The special vehicles are connected to a remote access system, which allows their engines to be remotely switched off and the bank note dying system to be activated. The new system makes it impossible for unauthorised individuals as well as the bank’s cash-in-transit guards to access valuables.

“Today we are upgrading our secure valuables transportation system to a new level. SmartCar makes the act of attacking cash-in-transit vehicles or guards pointless. In addition, by deploying SmartCar vehicles, Sberbank will considerably reduce cash-in-transit operating costs,” commented Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank.
