OREANDA-NEWS  Russian insurers increased the collection of premiums for voluntary medical insurance (VMI) in 2022 by 6.9% compared to 2021 - up to 213.7 billion rubles, according to statistics from the Bank of Russia. VMI payments by the end of 2022 amounted to 156.1 billion rubles, an increase of 9.7%.

The level of payments in the VMI was 73%, whereas a year earlier this figure was 71.1%.

In the structure of premiums for VMI, the largest share (77.5%, or 165.7 billion rubles) fell on VMI contracts concluded by the employer in favor of its employees, a year earlier the indicator was slightly lower - 74.6%. Another 20% of the total DMS fees (or 42.7 billion rubles) fell on citizens' insurance contracts, a year earlier - 22.5%. About 2.5% (or 5.4 billion rubles) accounted for the VMI of citizens traveling abroad, a year earlier - 2.9%.

In 2022, insurers concluded 13 million contracts, which is 3.1% more than in 2021. The average cost of a VMI insurance policy was 16.4 thousand rubles, an increase of 3.6%.

55.1 million insured cases were declared to insurers (an increase of 53.9%), 52.9 million insured cases were settled (final insurance payments were made) (an increase of 3%). The number of refusals in the insurance payment reached 17.9 thousand, exceeding the previous year's figure by 45.6%.

The average payment for settled insurance claims, according to the method of calculating this indicator by the Bank of Russia, amounted to 3.2 thousand rubles, which is 7.5% more than in 2021.

In 2022, the share of the top ten in collecting premiums for VMI accounted for 87.10%, while in 2021 this figure was 86%.

As part of this group, 7 companies showed positive dynamics, 3 companies - negative. At the highest rates, the volume of premiums for VMI increased at Sberbank Insurance LLC - 2.8 times, up to 3.9 billion rubles. The most significant reduction in premiums was noted at Alliance Life LLC (a 17% reduction in premiums).

The composition of the top 10 has changed slightly. So, according to the results of last year, Sberbank Insurance LLC entered it, moving from 15th place to 9th. Left the top ten leaders of SC Sovcombank Insurance, moving from 10th to 11th place.

According to the results of 2022, SOGAZ JSC remains the leader in the VMI sector. The share of this company last year, as well as a year earlier, amounted to 35.6%. The volume of premiums collected by the company under the VMI in 2022 reached 76.1 billion rubles, an increase of 7% compared to the level of 2021.
