In Russia, over a million residents of new regions are already receiving pensions

OREANDA-NEWS More than a million citizens of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, receive Russian pensions, according to the website of the Social Fund of Russia.
"At the moment, over a million citizens of four new regions of Russia are already receiving Russian pensions. Our specialists continue to work on the assignment of funds so that even more residents receive the required pension provision and learn about other social measures of state support," said Sergey Chirkov, chairman of the Social Fund.
According to the department, 474 thousand people receive pensions under Russian law in the Donetsk People's Republic, 373 thousand in the Luhansk People's Republic, 140.5 thousand in the Zaporozhye region, 54 thousand in the Kherson region.
"Pensions and payments under Russian law have become available to residents of new regions this year. From March of this year until March of the following year, there is a transitional period when citizens can apply for a Russian pension. In this case, she will be appointed from March 1, 2023, but not earlier than the right to a pension arose," the fund explained.
Pensioners receiving payments under the regional laws of the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions will continue to receive them until the payments are reissued according to Russian standards. If, after recalculation, the pension amount turns out to be less than it was before, payments will remain at the same level without reduction, the message said.
"The application for a Russian pension is accepted at the offices of the Social Fund and the MFC in the new subjects. You can also apply for an appointment through the Public Services portal, the necessary documents are submitted to the Social Fund's client service. Citizens who have left the new regions can also apply for pensions and benefits. They should contact the nearest branch of the fund or the MFC," the department added.
