OREANDA-NEWS Rostislav Shurma, deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, took the initiative to ban cash payments in the country. He stated this at a conference on the restoration of Ukraine in London, reports Vesti.ua .

"In the coming months we will present a roadmap, whether we will do it or not. I believe that the decision will be "yes"," he said. According to the politician, such a decision will help to overcome at least 95 percent of corruption in the country.

At the same time, the newspaper notes, such a proposal did not find a response among economists. Experts doubted that such a decision would help to defeat corruption, however, they admitted that it would lead to the flow of the hryvnia into the cash dollar and, consequently, the collapse of the exchange rate. In addition, economist Alexey Kushch noted that in "conditions of blackouts and power outages, cash becomes the only payment tool not only in markets, but also in stores." Moreover, the shadow economy will also switch to the dollar, the expert noted.

Earlier it was reported that the cash turnover in Russia increased by 105.3 billion rubles in 3 days against the background of the rebellion of the private military company Wagner.
