OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Ambassador to Caracas Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov said that in Venezuela it will be possible to pay with Mir payment system cards, and one of the first places where this will be possible is likely to be Margarita Island. The diplomat's words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Melik-Bagdasarov noted that soon every Russian who came to the island will be able to pay with a Mir card anywhere. There is no such possibility yet — this is due to technical issues, but all the main legal issues have already been settled, he stressed. "Of course, Margarita as the most attractive destination for Russian tourists will be given priority. The tourist flow there is measured by tens of thousands of people," the diplomat said.

The interlocutor of the agency also stressed that the Venezuelans will do everything possible to make the Mir map work as much as possible in large points. As for the rest of the places in the country, these cards are also accepted in test mode in Caracas. "This does not mean that you can go to any store and pay, but work is underway on this," the ambassador added.
