OREANDA-NEWS  The number of Russians whose income turned out to be above average increased by 9.4 million people by the end of 2022. The Izvestia newspaper writes about this, referring to the FinExpertiza study.

The number of Russians with an above-average income increased by 9.4 million people in 2022, to 53.1 million. The share of the population with monthly incomes of 45 thousand rubles, that is, above the average Russian level, increased to 36.2%. Moreover, most of the residents who receive above-average income live in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (78.2% of the region's residents, or 37.4 thousand people).

According to Elena Trubnikova, president of FinExpertiza, social benefits were indexed in 2022, so the incomes of a certain part of the population grew faster than those of high-income citizens.

Market experts considered that the incomes of the population have grown in certain industries and regions where there is a shortage of good specialists. In conditions when the cost of living is rising and there are not enough good specialists, employers are simply forced to raise the salary level.

On June 2, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Mikhail Delyagin, commenting on the statistics of the Ministry of Finance on the reduction of value-added tax revenues to the budget, suggested that people hide their income, "going into the shadows." He added that people do not go into the shadows from a good life. The main problem is the falling standard of living of people.
