OREANDA-NEWS   The chairman of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, voted online on the design of a new 1,000-ruble bill, the press service of the Bank of Russia told RIA Novosti.

"The Chairman of the Bank of Russia also voted, but we do not disclose the personal choice of the voting participants," the message says.

Online voting for symbols for the reverse side of the new 1,000-ruble banknote started on the website of the Bank of Russia on November 29.

It is noted that 400 thousand Russians have already taken part in an online vote on the design of a new banknote of 1000 rubles, which will last until 12.00 Moscow time on December 12.

According to the voting data, the Meteor high-speed hydrofoil passenger ship is currently in the lead, the monument to Salavat Yulaev, which is located in Ufa, is in second place, and the Palace of Farmers in Kazan closes the top three leaders.

The issue of the updated banknote with a face value of 1000 rubles was suspended last year, as the temple building of the Kazan Kremlin depicted on it without a cross caused a mixed reaction in society. In order to take into account different opinions, the Bank of Russia decided to hold an online popular vote for the symbols for the new banknote. The front side of the upcoming new banknote of 1000 rubles will remain in the version that was presented last year - with the Nikolskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.
