OREANDA-NEWS  The cost of food for pets at the end of this year has increased sharply — imported feed has risen by 20-30 percent, while domestic producers have increased prices by 30-65 percent. Provided such data NEWS.ru the head of the network of pet stores "Marvelous Hummingbird" Valentina Potashova.

In 2022, according to NielsenIQ, the cost of dry and wet feed increased by an average of 20-25 percent. The cost grew the most in the low-price segment, where the growth was up to 40 percent. Feed began to become more expensive in the spring of 2022, after the departure of a number of foreign companies from the Russian market against the background of the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. Logistics problems also affected the price increase.

Russian companies reacted to changes in the market by increasing production, and retail chains began to fill their stores with goods of domestic brands. "We are currently forming an assortment line of new Russian-made feeds in our stores: some of the products receive good customer ratings, but we filter out some of the brands. At the same time, domestic producers have supply disruptions: they were not ready for sharply increased volumes," Potashova said.
