OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed until June 1, 2023 to introduce a limit on the purchase of foreign currency by residents within the country for crediting to foreign accounts and conducting authorized transactions. This is stated in the list of instructions of the head of state, published on the official website of the Kremlin.

The Russian leader ordered the government and the Bank of Russia to set a limit of no more than one billion dollars. He appointed the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin and the head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina responsible for the execution of the order.

In April, it was reported that the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance are discussing the introduction of a monthly limit on the purchase of foreign currency on the domestic market in the course of large transactions in which the business of companies leaving Russia is bought out.
