Pyaterochka records a significant increase in demand for "convenient products"
Source: OREANDA-NEWS
OREANDA-NEWS Customers of the Pyaterochka retail chain began to prefer "convenient products" more — high-quality goods that require minimal processing and save time, the press service of the retail chain reports.
In the first six months of 2026, the demand for prepared vegetables increased by 33% compared to the same period last year, and for cheese cuts — by 20%. In turn, the dynamics of consumption of portioned cereals (an increase of 8.7%) is almost twice as fast as sales of conventional packaged analogues.
The popularity of products in a convenient format is growing the most among residents of large cities. Thus, the volume of sales of peeled and washed beets, potatoes, carrots and corn in the first half of 2026 reached more than 13.1 million kilograms. The share of sales of cereals in cooking bags increased to 18%, actively strengthening its position in cities with millions of inhabitants.
Customer preferences depend on the days of the week. On weekdays from Monday to Thursday, guests of the retail chain often purchase cheese and sausage slices 5% more often than on other days — they are convenient to use for snacking in the office or at school. By Friday and Saturday, demand for washed vegetables and portioned cereals is increasing, as customers stock up on convenient ingredients for family lunches and dinners on weekends.
Fast food is most often chosen by residents of megacities in the Central and Northwestern districts. The high pace of life and the growing number of single households make the "open and cook" format more in demand. At the same time, adherence to traditions remains in the southern regions and the Volga region: classic lump cheese and weight vegetables are still more often chosen there.
Analysts of the retail chain confidently assess the future of this segment and predict its further growth.
