OREANDA-NEWS  The introduction of independent settlement mechanisms between Cuba and Russia is going well, they will protect the countries' relations from the negative impact of US sanctions and financial institutions of unfriendly states, Russian Ambassador to Havana Andrey Guskov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"We are successfully implementing independent settlement mechanisms that will protect cooperation with Cuba from the negative impact of the trade, economic and financial blockade by the United States, as well as establish ties, bypassing financial organizations of unfriendly states," the Russian diplomat said.

In January, Boris Titov, chairman of the Russia-Cuba Business Council, said that in order to mitigate the effect of Western sanctions, the parties are considering new mechanisms for mutual settlements - in rubles and cryptocurrencies, as well as clearing schemes.
