OREANDA-NEWS  The share of investments and loans from Russia in the economy of Uzbekistan in January-September 2023 amounted to 15.9% of total foreign investments in the republic against 18.8% in the first half of the year, this is the second indicator among investor countries, according to the data of the Uzbek Statistical Agency.

According to the state agency, the total amount of foreign investments and loans directed to fixed assets in Uzbekistan in January-September 2023 increased by 20.1% compared to the same period in 2022 to 104.4 trillion soums (about $ 8.6 billion - ed.) or 46.1% of all investments in the country's economy. "The investor countries with the largest share in the volume of foreign investments and loans: Russia -15.9%," the materials on the agency's website say. Thus, the volume of Russian investments in Uzbekistan in the first half of this year amounted to 16.6 trillion soums (about $ 1.4 billion). China tops the list (24.5%) and Saudi Arabia (7%) is also among the top three countries.

In January-June, the share of Russian investments was 18.8% of total foreign investments. At that time, investors from the Russian Federation were also the second among the countries investing in Uzbekistan, second only to China.
