OREANDA-NEWS  Russia and Somalia have agreed to settle the debts of the African country. The documents were signed within the framework of the Russia—Africa summit, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Somali Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Juma, Russia adopted a document according to which it forgave two debts, one for 7.5 million, and the second for more than 684 million dollars. The rest of Somalia will be returned according to the new schedule, the representative of the African Republic noted.

According to the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, thanks to the cancellation of debts to African countries, Russia opens up ways for its companies to work on the continent. Africa's debts were ephemeral and irrevocable, but now domestic business will have the opportunity to work on a mutually beneficial basis, earn money, increase trade turnover, pay large taxes, including to the Russian budget.
