OREANDA-NEWS The audit of the Russian Post for the period 2020-2024 and the expired period of 2025, conducted by the Accounting Chamber, revealed a number of shortcomings that were not included in the official report. They became known from the review of the audit results at an expanded joint meeting of the State Duma committees for protection of competition and control, Vedomosti writes.
Following the meeting, the head of the Competition Protection Committee, Valery Hartung, sent a letter to the chairman of the Control Committee, Oleg Morozov, as well as to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Finance, and the company itself with recommendations on how to remedy the situation. The authenticity of the letter was confirmed by an interlocutor of the publication in one of the committees.
This document, in particular, stated that the auditors had caught the Russian Post, which was facing financial problems, in excessive spending on PR, as well as an attempt to make money on delays in payments of pensions and benefits by diverting money to third-party accounts.
In 2019-2023 alone, the state-owned company spent 1.53 billion rubles on sponsorship and charitable assistance to sports and other organizations. Of these, 205 million went to help the Russian Football Union and the National Football League. Another 601.1 million was spent on creating a positive image in the media and social networks.
