Russians have become less likely to spend money on clothing repairs and have increased spending on groceries

OREANDA-NEWS From March to April 2026, Russians cut back on dry cleaning and clothing repairs. This is reported by the Izvestia newspaper with reference to the Sberindex study.
Analysts studied the dynamics of consumer spending from April 20 to April 26 and compared them with the figures of the previous week and March. Overall, spending decreased by 1.7 percent over the week. Spending on ateliers, dry cleaning and clothing repairs decreased the most (minus 22.4 percent), car maintenance (minus 6.4 percent), clothing purchases (minus 16 percent) and telecommunications services (minus 5.3 percent).
"Consumption decreased in most categories of non-food products and services, but at the same time food costs increased: by 1.5 percent compared to the previous week and 1.4 percent compared to March. Catering indicators remained at the level of the previous week and are 2.2 percent higher than in March," analysts say.
