OREANDA-NEWS  Starting Thursday, February 1, almost all social benefits will be indexed at the federal and regional levels. Andrey Girinsky, Associate Professor of Economics at the RUDN University, told the Prime news agency about this.

According to the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation, the indexation by 7.4 percent will affect more than 40 payments, allowances and compensations. In particular, we are talking about maternity capital, a one-time allowance for the birth of a child, a monthly child care allowance and other social support measures. The increase will affect more than 20 million Russians.

"The maximum maternity allowance will increase to 565,562 rubles, and the maximum monthly allowance for child care up to one and a half years will increase by 48 percent, to 49,123 rubles," Girinsky explained.

In addition, starting from February 1 of this year, the maternity capital will amount to almost 631 thousand rubles for the first child and 834 thousand rubles for the second.

Payments will also increase for veterans of the Great Patriotic War and persons equated to them, Heroes of Russia and Heroes of Labor, persons who took part in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

From the beginning of next month, temporary payments in connection with job loss will also be indexed, the economist concluded.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree consolidating the unified status of a large family. A family with three or more children is considered to have many children. The status of such a family is established indefinitely. As reported, social support measures for large families are carried out until the eldest child turns 18 or 23 years old.

In addition, large families will receive payments in connection with the birth and upbringing of children, and the provision of support measures in the field of labor relations.
