OREANDA-NEWS On November 17, the Bank of Russia will issue a commemorative silver coin of the Cosmos series with a face value of 3 rubles "50th anniversary of the soft landing of landers on Venus and obtaining panoramic images of the surface of Venus," the Central Bank of the Russian Federation said in a statement.
"In 1975, the Venera-9 and Venera-10 spacecraft landed on the second-furthest planet from the Sun and transmitted the first photographs of its surface to Earth. On November 17, 2025, the Bank of Russia will issue a commemorative silver coin with a face value of 3 rubles "50th anniversary of the soft landing of landers on Venus and obtaining panoramic images of the surface of Venus" of the Cosmos series, the message says.
It is noted that the silver coin with a face value of 3 rubles (the mass of the precious metal in purity is 31.1 grams, or one troy ounce, the alloy sample is 925) has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 39 millimeters. There is a protruding edge around the circumference of the obverse and reverse sides of the coin.
On the obverse of the coin there is a relief image of the coat of arms of Russia, there are inscriptions: "Russian Federation", "Bank of Russia", coin face value "3 rubles", date "2025".
On the reverse side of the coin there are relief images of the automatic interplanetary station "Venus-9" and the descent vehicle against the background of a color image of Venus; there are inscriptions: around the circumference – "The first photographs of the surface of Venus" and "Venus-9, -10", in the central part – "1975".
The side surface of the coin is fluted. The coin is made of "proof" quality. The coin has a circulation of 3,000 copies.
