OREANDA-NEWS The leadership of the Central Bank (CB) has changed the official exchange rate of the dollar in Russia. This is evidenced by data published on the regulator’s website.

The quotes for the US currency on Wednesday, September 29, will be approximately 84.43 rubles. On Tuesday, September 28, the official exchange rate of the dollar in Russia was at the level of 84.41 rubles. Thus, the increase in quotes was symbolic (plus 2 kopecks).

The official euro exchange rate, in turn, was lowered by 19 kopecks — from 96.25 to 96.06 rubles. The Chinese yuan was trading at around 12.47 rubles on the Moscow Exchange by 18:15.

Experts agree that there is no need to expect a collapse of the Russian currency in the foreseeable future. Among the main factors that will support the ruble, analysts have identified high oil prices, the central bank’s tight monetary policy, the expected reduction in the volume of foreign currency purchases by the Ministry of Finance, and tax revenues to the budget from Russian exporters. Against this backdrop, Mikhail Khachaturyan, an associate professor at the Department of Strategic and Innovative Development at the Financial University, predicted that the dollar exchange rate in October–December will likely be in the range of 80–85 rubles.
