OREANDA-NEWS  The Legal Service of the European Union has admitted that it does not know where the vast majority of the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia are located. This is reported by Bloomberg.

The publication notes that out of $ 258 billion, no more than $36.4 billion has been located at the moment. Thus, the EU does not know the location of 86 percent of the blocked funds.

The lawyers noted that if the EU wants to use this money for the restoration of Ukraine, they must first be found. In this regard, they proposed to oblige European banks to immediately transfer all information about the frozen funds of the Russian Federation to the European Commission.

Earlier it was reported that the EU is considering the possibility of confiscating the blocked assets of the Bank of Russia. At the moment, the block is studying ways to implement the measure in accordance with international rules and, in particular, is thinking about the potential use of the Central Bank's assets.

Russian assets were frozen as a result of sanctions against the Central Bank after the start of a special military operation.
