OREANDA-NEWS  The Government's Commission on Legislative Activity did not support the initiative to ban the storage of undeclared cash in the amount of more than 1 million rubles. The draft recall of the Cabinet of Ministers on the document is at the disposal of TASS.

The author of the initiative was the deputy from the faction "Fair Russia - For the Truth" Anatoly Wasserman. He proposed to supplement the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with a new article (illegal turnover of cash payments), providing for liability for storing cash in rubles or foreign currency in an amount equivalent to (exceeding) 1 million rubles, without notifying the tax authority and indicating the origin of the funds.

"The introduction of the proposed liability does not meet the requirements for criminalization of acts, creates risks of adverse consequences for law-abiding citizens who have savings and do not use the services of banks. It should also be borne in mind that the legislation of the Russian Federation does not prohibit the storage of cash and does not provide for a mandatory requirement to notify the tax authority about the stored cash with an indication of their origin," the document says.

It is also noted that according to the legislation, settlements not related to the implementation of entrepreneurial activity by citizens can be made in cash without limiting the amount.
