OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian government will write off two thirds of the debt on budget loans to 16 regions for a total of 31 billion rubles, said Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"Today we will help 16 more regions of the Russian Federation, reducing their debt by a total of 31 billion rubles," Mishustin said at a government meeting.

According to him, we are talking about the republics of Buryatia, Kalmykia, Crimea, North Ossetia - Alania, Khakassia, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as the Volgograd, Ivanovo, Irkutsk, Kurgan, Novgorod, Orel, Rostov, Smolensk, Tambov and Tver regions.

"They have allocated a significant part of their funds to the implementation of master plans for cities, the improvement of housing and communal services, the renovation of public transport, and, what is also very important, the recapitalization of regional industrial development funds and a number of other tasks," the prime minister added.
Writing off some of the budget loans will allow the regions to free up significant resources and support the development of the regional economy, Mishustin stressed.
