OREANDA-NEWS  Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva said that, according to IMF forecasts, 2023 will be difficult for the global economy.

"The global economy has been in a turbulent environment for some time, experiencing shock after shock. We expect that 2023 will be another difficult year," reads the text of the IMF chief's speech at the Boao Asian Forum in China.

Georgieva noted that the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine and the tightening of monetary policies in the world continue to affect the pace of global GDP growth, which is projected at less than 3% in 2023.

On Tuesday, the Asian Economic Forum, which is informally called the "Eastern Davos", opened in Boao on the Chinese island of Hainan. The Forum was established in 2001. Its tasks are the development of coordination and cooperation between Asian countries, the intensification of dialogue and economic ties with other regions of the world, the creation of a platform for dialogue on economic, social and other issues between officials, entrepreneurs, specialists and scientists.
