OREANDA-NEWS The increase in wholesale prices for eggs will have virtually no effect on retail prices, despite high demand and seasonality of production, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reported.

"Currently, against the background of low purchase prices last year and in the context of rising costs of poultry farms, as well as due to increased demand and seasonality of production, there is a certain increase in wholesale prices. At the same time, it will have virtually no impact on retail prices," the report says.

They noted that in conditions of high supply, producer prices decreased year–on-year by 5.7% for eggs of the first category, to 74.5 rubles per dozen, and by 15.8% for eggs of the second category, to 56.9 rubles per dozen. In retail, eggs have fallen in price by 14.4% over the year, the ministry added.
