OREANDA-NEWS  Cases when a payment using Visa and MasterCard cards in Russia suddenly fails cannot be considered a sign of a systemic card shutdown. Denis Batrankov, an information security expert, told KP Radio about this.

According to him, this can happen due to DDoS attacks, and sometimes problems arise with online purchases, where the TLS protocol is used for secure data exchange. Now, against the background of reduced interaction with international companies, Russian services are switching to certificates from the National Certification Center, but foreign browsers may not trust them automatically.

Earlier, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, predicted that next year nine out of ten bank cards in Russia will belong to the Mir payment system. He called Visa and MasterCard a vestige.
