The unified register of bank cards will be created in 2027, Nabiullina said

OREANDA-NEWS The unified register of bank cards of Russians will be created in 2027, said the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina.
"Starting from September 1 of this year, the norm for limiting the number of cards in one bank will have to be implemented. A year later, we believe that a unified payment card accounting system will be created and it will be possible to apply it," she said at the annual meeting of credit institutions with the Bank of Russia.
In November last year, in an interview with RIA Novosti, Vadim Uvarov, director of the Information security Department of the Bank of Russia, said that the Central Bank and banks were working on creating a unified register of payment cards so that when a person applied for a new card, the bank could see how many cards they had in other credit institutions.
