OREANDA-NEWS By the end of 2023, more than 5,700 financial pyramids and illegal financial service providers were identified in Russia. The indicator exceeded the value of 2022 by 15.5 percent, TASS reports, citing statistical data from analysts of the Central Bank (CB).

In comparison with 2022, 46 percent more financial pyramids were identified in the country. In turn, the number of illegal financial service providers caught during this period increased by nine percent, according to the materials of the regulator.

At the same time, the activities of most of the identified financial pyramids and illegal brokers were focused on investing in internal tokens or accepting contributions in cryptocurrency, the Central Bank concluded.

Earlier, Deputy chairman of the regulator German Zubarev said that in January-September 2023, Russian banks managed to prevent theft from customers totaling 3.3 trillion rubles. During this period of time, financial organizations have repelled more than 20 million attempts to steal funds. The effectiveness of protective banking systems was about 98 percent.
