OREANDA-NEWSThe US Treasury refused to satisfy the request of the Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska for lifting sanctions from him. This is stated in the report of the District of Columbia court of March 17.

The department made the decision on the refusal on March 6, and sent the request to Deripaska in June 2019. In it, he referred that the circumstance that led to the imposition of sanctions against him in April 2018, his ownership of EuroSibEnergo, lost relevance after the businessman abandoned control over the En+ group, which includes EuroSibEnergo.

The Ministry of Finance until March 26 will provide Deripaska with an evidence-based memorandum explaining the refusal to lift sanctions, the court said. Then the businessman must amend his application, which will again be considered by the court. The representative of Deripaska didn't respond to a request from RBC whether the businessman received a memorandum and what changes he plans to make to the application.
