OREANDA-NEWS About 30 retail chains in 25 regions of Russia have joined the initiative to limit margins at a level of no more than 5% for certain categories of socially significant goods, according to reports from the FAS and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

These categories include: dairy products, bakery products, sugar, vegetables of the "borscht set", poultry, chicken eggs, frozen fish, some fruits, baby food, hygiene products.

The FAS will control the fulfillment of obligations. Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov said that the system of voluntary restriction of margins "is beneficial to all market participants." According to him, it allows you to successfully fight for "visitor traffic and attract more buyers," Interfax reports.

Earlier, the margins were limited by federal networks, among them — Magnit, OK, X5 Retail and Auchan. The mechanism for limiting margins assumes that retail chains voluntarily assume obligations to minimize margins on significant goods. The retailer determines the specific positions in each category independently.
