OREANDA-NEWS The fifth generation (5G) communication networks will be created in one city of Russia with a population of more than 1 million people in 2020, and by the end of 2021 the number of such cities will grow to ten. This is stated in the materials on the national project "Digital economy", published on the website of the government.

It is expected that the Concept of creation and development of 5g/IMT-2020 networks in the Russian Federation will be approved in 2019. Also this year, a General scheme for the development of communication networks and infrastructure of cities will be developed.

The materials note that in 2019 a set of measures of economic support for companies whose products have the status of telecommunications equipment of Russian origin should be developed. In 2020, it is planned to create a system of sectoral regulation of the use of cyber-physical systems, including the Internet of things.

Corporate and industrial centers of the State system of detection, prevention and elimination of consequences of computer attacks (Gossipy) should appear before the end of 2021. At the same time, a "protected digital environment for dual-use interaction on the basis of domestic technologies should be created to work in the LTE-450 standard for the needs of the interior Ministry, EMERCOM and Regardie."

The fifth generation communication technology is characterized by a higher speed compared to 4G and a lower delay in signal transmission. In addition, more devices can connect to a 5G network than to an LTE network. New technologies will be especially in demand in such areas as the Internet of things, unmanned transport and digitalization of the industry.

Experts are also waiting for major changes in the entertainment industry - with the development of 5G high - definition video, as well as VR and AR broadcasts can be watched in real time. The largest smartphone manufacturers have planned to release gadgets with support for 5G in 2019. According to the Ericsson Mobility Report, more than 40% of the world's population will live in 5G networks by the end of 2024, and a quarter of mobile traffic will be processed in these networks. According to the report, the leaders in 5G in the coming years will be North America and North-East Asia.
