"This confirms the demand for Russian education," Chernyshenko said at a meeting of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with deputy prime ministers on Monday.
He recalled that in total, more than 626 thousand budget places were installed in this admission campaign, more than 37 thousand of which were given to universities in new regions.
"The most popular among applicants were the following areas: computer science and computer engineering, pedagogy, economics, as well as law," Chernyshenko said.
He added that the most popular universities in the country were: RANEPA, Kazan Federal University, Ural Federal University, HSE and Financial University.
Chernyshenko stressed that this year 1 million 236,022 first-year students will study at universities.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that "on behalf of the president, the participants of the SVO and their children were enrolled in training within a separate quota - about 8.5 thousand people." "We have such guys in almost all regions," Chernyshenko said.
He noted that a number of universities accepted such applicants in excess of the established quota.
