OREANDA-NEWS   About 2 thousand Russian wines from almost 150 wineries will be collected in the enoteca of the first "wine city" in Russia and the world, the cost of a bottle will start from 500 rubles, Dmitry Levitsky, a restaurateur and head of Bely Cape, told RIA Novosti in an interview.

"The main idea of the wine city is to support Russian winemaking. Therefore, in the enoteca we have collected a collection exclusively of Russian wines: at the moment there are already 1856 wines from 146 wineries. The task is not easy: you have to try a lot of wines and select only the decent ones," Levitsky said.

"We don't aim to inflate prices. The cost of a bottle starts from 500 rubles, we want wines to be available, but quality is a priority. There will be expensive, collectible items, but in general we are targeting the mass consumer," he added.

Levitsky said that the vinoteka team did a great job: first, collecting information about wine producers from all regions of Russia, and then selecting samples that corresponded to the concept of the wine library. "The tasting committee of professional sommeliers has already conducted an organoleptic analysis of all samples. But the collection is lively, with new wines appearing every year. By the time it opens, there will be something else that you want to turn on. We will constantly supplement and find new interesting wines," explained the project manager.

"Only those wines of which we are confident will be placed on the shelf. It's not always expensive, but it's always high-quality. We are already proud that Enoteca gives small wineries a chance to make themselves known. Their products rarely end up in large wine shops: the volumes are small, and the logistics requirements are high," Levitsky emphasized.

The first wine city in Russia and in the world, Bely Cape, is currently under construction in Gelendzhik. The idea of creation belongs to the group of joint-stock bank Rossiya (owns the wineries Massandra, Inkerman, Novy Svet). In addition to the wine library, the project will include restaurants, an interactive museum, a wine laboratory, a sommelier school and other facilities. The wine City is expected to open by the end of 2025.
