OREANDA-NEWS  An additional contingent has been sent to the Kursk region to protect the state border with Ukraine, it will arrive in the coming days, Governor Roman Starovoit said at the meeting, the newspaper "Kursk News" writes.

"The instructions have been given, it is necessary to provide comprehensive support for the reception and deployment of additional forces and means so that the military personnel can begin to perform tasks to protect the state border and ensure the security of the Kursk region as soon as possible," the head of the region added.

Starovoit noted at the same time that a solid contingent of forces and means of the Ministry of Defense, Rosgvardiya, border guards (belong to the FSB) and other departments has already been formed in the Kursk region.

The settlements of the Kursk region, which are close to the border with Ukraine, are regularly shelled, the regional authorities accuse the APU of this. In particular, on January 24, a drone dropped an explosive device in the village of Gornal, two people were injured. The next day, the village of Otruba came under fire, and on January 29, the village of Krasnooktyabrsky came under mortar fire. Since October, an average response mode has been introduced in the region.

In the Kursk region, people's squads are also being formed, 2 thousand people joined them from the end of February to December last year, Starovoit said. According to him, the duty of the vigilantes will be to patrol the streets and territories of important objects.
