OREANDA-NEWS In January-September of this year, the American region became Russia's third main trading partner, displacing Africa, which rounded out the top 3 last year, according to RIA Novosti calculations based on data from the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia.

In January-September 2025, Russia's main trading partner were Asian countries, accounting for 73.3% of the total trade turnover compared to 72% a year earlier. At the same time, in absolute terms, the indicator decreased slightly - by 1.5%, to 369.5 billion dollars.

The second most important region for Russian trade was Europe, with 18.6% of total trade, although its share decreased by 1.4 percentage points over the year. The volume of trade in nine months decreased by 10% and amounted to 93.8 billion dollars.

The American continent closes the top three, with trade with it showing an increase of 7.5% to $21.2 billion. Its importance for Russia's foreign trade increased slightly, to 4.2% from 3.8% a year earlier.
But Africa, which was third last year, on the contrary, reduced its share in Russian trade to 3.8% in January-September of this year from last year's 4%.
Oceania accounted for about 0.02% of the trade turnover (0.1 billion).
