OREANDA-NEWS Avtodor is considering the possibility of building a bypass road around the Caspian Sea. According to the head of the state-owned company Vyacheslav Petushenko, both eastern and western options are being considered. He said in an interview with RIA Novosti at SPIEF-2023 that the final decision on the project has not yet been made, and the feasibility study has not yet begun.

It seems that the project is being discussed at the government level in order to understand how freight and rail transport can be used. At the end of January, after a working trip of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin to Turkmenistan, the two countries began negotiations on a joint project to build a highway along the coast of the Caspian Sea. Access to the Caspian Sea is considered important for the restructuring of logistics, as Petushenko previously told RIA Novosti.

The South-Western chord is considered together with the Meridian highway, the main route of which passes through the territory of China.
