OREANDA-NEWS  Azerbaijan and Russia discussed issues of diversification of economic partnership and development of interregional ties between the countries, noted favorable business and investment opportunities in Azerbaijan.

As reported on Monday Day.Az with reference to the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, the discussions took place within the framework of the meeting of the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov with the delegation headed by the adviser to the President of Russia Ruslan Edelgeriev.

The Minister stressed the positive dynamics of the development of relations with Russia, noted the importance of intensifying partnership between business circles in realizing economic potential, strengthening trade and investment ties.

It was noted that the favorable business and investment environment in Azerbaijan, the wide potential of the territories liberated from occupation open up new prospects for the development of regional cooperation, including partnership with the Russian Federation. Russian investors can also take advantage of the transport and logistics opportunities of the Alatka Free Economic Zone (FEZ) located at the intersection of international corridors.

Mikail Jabbarov, emphasizing the special role of increasing the efficiency of transport links to increase bilateral trade, drew attention to the importance of using the resources of the international North-South transport route.

Ruslan Edelgeriev, expressing satisfaction with the visit to the country, stressed that Russia attaches special importance to partnership with Azerbaijan, noted the role of increasing the activity of the private sector in effective mutually beneficial development, shared his vision of realizing economic potential. The parties considered the possibilities of implementing social and economic projects.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Embassy and Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan and the Council of the regional branch of the All-Russian Public-State Movement of Children and Youth "Movement of the First" in the Chechen Republic.

The sides also discussed issues of diversification of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, the work necessary to maintain the dynamics in the volume of mutual trade, the development of interregional relations, as well as ties in tourism and other industries.
