OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first eight months of 2026, the demand for tequila and domestic sparkling wine increased sharply in Russia. The newspaper Izvestia reports on a noticeable increase in citizens' interest in these types of alcohol, citing data from the SimpleWine federal network of wine stores.

During this time, tequila sales jumped by 178 percent compared to the same period last year. Experts attributed the rapid growth in demand for spirits to the launch of one of the Mexican brands in Russia. "Tequila is increasingly being ordered for parties and holidays, and large corporate clients, event organizers and representatives of show business are eyeing the category," added Ruslan Bragin, head of the company's spirits division.

Another popular type of alcohol among Russians turned out to be domestic sparkling wine. Its sales in January-August jumped 38 percent year-on-year. The main growth driver was young buyers (18 to 25 years old). The demand of representatives of this age group for Russian sparkling wine increased by 130 percent. Such dynamics could be facilitated by the relatively low cost of such alcoholic beverages, especially in comparison with their European counterparts.

The demand for cider has also increased dramatically in Russia recently. In January-July, sales of alcoholic beverages in the domestic market jumped by more than a quarter. Experts explained the growing interest of citizens in this type of alcohol by changing consumer preferences, lower cost compared to the prices of strong alcohol and the desire of the audience for lighter taste formats.
