OREANDA-NEWS Work on the opening of duty-free shops for diplomats in Moscow and St. Petersburg is underway, the Main Directorate for the Service of the Diplomatic Corps (GlavUpDK) under the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Answering the question about whether such institutions have earned, the organization explained that "work on the opening of duty-free shops is carried out in accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1330 of July 26, 2022."They added that we are talking about the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers "On the organization of duty-free trade for diplomatic missions, consular offices, representative offices of states to international organizations, international organizations or their representative offices located on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as members of the diplomatic staff of diplomatic missions, consular officials and members of their families who live with them, staff (employees, officials) of State missions."

According to this document, prices for goods in stores will be set in rubles, dollars and euros. It will be possible to get into the store only upon presentation of documents certifying accreditation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. After the purchase, it is planned to issue a check to diplomats with the inscription Duty Free, in which information about the buyer can also be indicated.

As previously explained in GlavUpDK, the operators of duty-free shops will be selected based on the results of the competition, he will also form the assortment. They also explained that the stores "are mistakenly considered to be the revival of the "Birch Trees" of the Soviet era, which, along with foreigners, our citizens could also visit if they had checks from Vneshposyltorg."
