OREANDA-NEWS  The Ethiopian authorities have imposed a temporary ban on air passengers to export coffee from the country. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in Addis Ababa in Telegram.

The product cannot be exported in any form and in any quantities. The embassy advised tourists to take this information into account when planning trips "in order to avoid unpleasant situations.

Coffee is the main export product for Ethiopia. According to the International Coffee Organization, the country produces more coffee than all other African countries, and is among the world's top five in this indicator, second only to Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia and Indonesia.

Earlier, the operator of fiscal data "Platform OFD" reported that the cost of a cup of coffee with a volume of 150-200 milliliters in Russia has more than doubled since 2016 — by 118 percent. The average cost of a cup of coffee in August-September of this year in the organization was estimated at 166 rubles, which is 11 percent more than a year earlier.
