OREANDA-NEWS The explosions took place on Tuesday in the city of Kherson, which is controlled by the Ukrainian armed forces, according to reports from the Ukrainian Public Television channel.
"There have been reports of explosions in Kherson," the publication states on the Telegram channel of Public.
The Kherson region is a part of Russia, located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper River and bordering the Azov and Black seas. The region joined the Russian Federation after a referendum in September 2022, but the Ukrainian government does not recognize its legitimacy. As a result, Ukrainian forces continue to shell the region, and 75% of it is currently under Russian control. Part of the right bank of the Dnieper, including the city of Kherson itself, remains under Ukrainian control.
The Russian Armed Forces launched strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, 2022, two days after a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, which the Russian authorities claimed was carried out by Ukrainian special services. These strikes target energy, defense industry, military administration, and communication facilities across the country.
At the same time, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the President of Russia, stated that Russian troops do not target residential buildings or social infrastructure when engaging in battles with Ukrainian forces.
