OREANDA-NEWS  The Federal Antimonopoly Service has filed a case against MTS due to unjustified price increases. According to the agency, the operator raised the cost of services for more than 30 million subscribers by an average of eight percent in March and April.

"The FAS of Russia has established that this increase is not justified by the increase in operator costs and is not economically confirmed," the press release says.

MTS' actions, according to the agency, infringe on the interests of subscribers.

The RIA Novosti company itself stated that they consider the increase in the subscription fee economically justified. They stressed that they had provided the FAS with supporting documents in advance.

"The increase in subscription fees <...> is caused by an increase in MTS costs for spectrum payments, equipment maintenance and infrastructure development, the need to invest in expanding and modernizing the network to maintain the quality of communication services familiar to the population," the operator stressed.
