OREANDA-NEWS  The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has opened another case against Alfa-Bank for violation of the law on advertising, now because of advertising of the loyalty program, the agency reported.

"The FAS has opened a case against Alfa-Bank JSC. The service has identified signs of violation of the Law on Advertising in the actions of the bank," the message says.

It is indicated that a citizen contacted the service with complaints about the advertising of the bank's loyalty program, which was broadcast on the federal TV channel. The advertisement claimed that points would be awarded to the client for opening an account. At the same time, information that the promotion is valid only when opening the first account was placed in an explanatory footnote in small print for a short time, the message says.

"In addition, the video indicated information that the product of Alfa-Bank JSC is the "best loyalty program". Objective criteria for comparing the service were also indicated in the explanatory footnote in small print within a short time. Such a presentation of information did not allow consumers to familiarize themselves with the footnote data," the FAS added.

According to the service, such actions of the bank may mislead consumers and contain signs of violation of the law on advertising. "The FAS of Russia will evaluate the video of Alfa-Bank JSC for violations of advertising legislation. If the organization is found guilty, it faces a fine," the department added.
