OREANDA-NEWS  The striker of Inter Miami and the Argentine national team Lionel Messi was included in the list of contenders for the Player of the Year award according to the International Football Federation (FIFA). This is reported on the organization's website.

In addition to Messi, there are 10 other players on the list. Among them are the French forward of Real Madrid Kylian Mbappe, the Norwegian striker of Manchester City Erling Holland, as well as the midfielder of the Citizens and the Spanish national team, Rhodri, who previously received the Golden Ball.

The contenders for the title of the best coach of the year have also been announced. There are five specialists on the list: Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid), Josep Guardiola (Manchester City), Xabi Alonso (Bayer), Lionel Scaloni (Argentina national team) and Luis de la Fuente (Spain national team). The winners will be chosen by voting of fans, as well as captains and coaches of all national teams and media representatives.

The current winner of the FIFA Player of the Year Award is Messi. Guardiola was named the best coach of 2023.
