OREANDA-NEWS Five people became victims of the hurricane that took place in Crimea, the head of the republic Sergey Aksenov said.

"As a result of the disaster, 12 people were injured," Aksenov wrote on his telegram channel on Friday.

In total, according to him, the disaster affected 320 settlements in 18 municipalities. Electricity supply was disrupted in 273 settlements, and over 500 thousand people were left without electricity. 159 private households, two apartment buildings, 193 private plots, 60 country houses in three municipalities were flooded. 53 people, including six children, remain in temporary accommodation.

Coastal protection structures, beaches and embankments in the cities of Yalta, Alushta, Yevpatoria, Feodosia, Kerch, Sudak, as well as in coastal rural settlements, were most affected, the head of the region noted.

As of this morning, about 1.6 thousand subscribers remain without power supply. 60 private households, two apartment buildings, 38 country houses, 83 private plots have been freed from water.

Hurricane-force winds gusting up to 40 m/s covered Crimea on Sunday. Emergency mode has been introduced. The preliminary amount of damage is 39.7 billion rubles.
